48 hours in Gaspé in winter: two itineraries for people who like to play outside!

Winter in Gaspé is an invitation to play outdoors in grandiose landscapes, between sea and mountains. Whether you're a hiker, skier, fatbiker or simply in search of fresh air, here are two perfect itineraries to make the most of 48 hours in this winter paradise.

Itinerary 1: Between sea and mountains

Day 1: Hiking by the sea

  • Sentier du Banc, Parc national Forillon - 4 km (round trip)
Start your adventure with a hike in Parc national Forillon, where the Sentier du Banc hugs the coastline, offering breathtaking views of the Gulf of St. Lawrence, the towering cliffs of Cap-bon-ami and the Cap-des-Rosiers lighthouse. In winter, the contrast between the immaculate snow and the deep blue of the sea creates a spectacular backdrop.
  • Sentier de Penouille - 4 km (round trip)
Continue your day exploring the sentier de Penouille, a Nordic-style peninsula where boreal forest meets snowy beach. Ideal for a contemplative walk or a snowshoe outing.

Day 2: Mont-Béchervaise, guaranteed mountain fun

  • ‍Alpine skiingor hiking
Located just 5 minutes from downtown, Mont-Béchervaise is a must for ski enthusiasts. With its varied slopes and breathtaking views of the bay, it's the perfect place for a morning at altitude. You can also rent equipment on site, whether for downhill skiing or alpine hiking.
  • Tubing
For an extra dose of fun, round off your day on the slopes! This activity is accessible to all, and guarantees lots of laughs and unforgettable memories.

Itinerary 2: Nordic discovery and the great outdoors

Day 1: Cross-country skiing in the forest

  • Club de ski de fond Les Éclairs de Gaspé
Rent your equipment and set off for adventure on the snowy trails of Club de ski de fond Les Éclairs. Several options are available, with routes ranging from 1.1 km to 12.5 km, perfect for all levels.
  • Adventure in Parc national Forillon
If you have your own equipment, start your trip at L'Anse-au-Griffon and take the La Vallée trail, before returning via the Le Portage trail (approx. 10 km). A stop at the warm and welcoming Le Répit Nord chalet is ideal for a well-deserved break.

Day 2: Fatbike and winter beach

  • Fatbike rental
For an original winter experience, rent a fatbike from Nolin Vélo and conquer the snowy trails. An accessible activity that offers a new way to explore the Gaspé landscape. You can also take the winter-maintained bike path to Haldimand beach, a magnificent ride between forest and seaside.
  • Walk on Haldimand beach
There's nothing like a walk on Haldimand beach to round off your stay in style. In winter, the sea breeze and the vastness of the coastline create a peaceful and rejuvenating atmosphere.
  • And if you're lucky...
When conditions permit, Gaspé's rivers and bay are transformed into spectacular natural ice rinks.
