Spring

From April onwards, the cold waters of the Gulf are alive with fishing. The first snow crab traps rise to the surface, marking the start of a season eagerly awaited by seafood lovers. In May, it's lobster's turn to be at the heart of the maritime effervescence. In June, the diversity of catches evolves over the weeks, with each landing testifying to the know-how of our sailors and their deep connection with the sea.

Watching these fishermen in action is a spectacle in itself. Whether lining the bustling wharves or chatting with sailors returning from their outings, each encounter reveals a piece of Gaspesian know-how. Rivière-au-Renard, the maritime fishing capital of Quebec, is one of the best places to experience this springtime effervescence. Activity is constant, punctuated by the comings and goings of boats and the unloading of fresh catches.

For an even deeper immersion, stop off at one of the local fishmongers. Here, the taste of the sea is savored on the plate.
